Equipment

Ingredients
  

Meat Mixture

  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1 small onion diced
  • 2 –3 garlic cloves minced
  • 1 4 oz can diced green chiles
  • 2 –3 tsp homemade taco seasoning see my recipe here
  • 1 24 oz jar Rao’s Tomato Basil spaghetti sauce

Cheese Mixture:

  • 1 ½ cups ricotta cheese
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella
  • 1 cup shredded sharp cheddar
  • ½ cup shredded Asiago
  • ½ cup grated Parmesan
  • 1 egg
  • 2 garlic cloves minced
  • 2 tbsp fresh basil chopped
  • Salt & pepper to taste

Other:

  • Oven-ready lasagna noodles about 9–12, depending on pan size
  • Extra mozzarella and Parmesan for topping

Instructions
 

  • Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).

Prepare the meat sauce:

  • In a large skillet over medium heat, sauté the diced onion and garlic until fragrant. Add the ground beef and cook until browned. Stir in the diced green chiles and taco seasoning. Pour in the Rao’s sauce and let simmer for 5–10 minutes.

Mix the cheese filling:

  • In a medium bowl, combine ricotta, mozzarella, cheddar, Asiago, Parmesan, egg, minced garlic, fresh basil, salt, and pepper. Mix until fully combined.

Assemble the lasagna:

  • In a 9x13-inch baking dish, layer in this order:
  • ○ A thin layer of meat sauce
  • ○ A layer of oven-ready noodles
  • ○ A generous spread of the cheese mixture
  • ○ More meat sauce
  • Repeat until ingredients are used up, finishing with meat sauce and a generous sprinkle of mozzarella and Parmesan on top.

Bake:

  • Cover with foil and bake for 35 minutes. Uncover and bake an additional 15–20 minutes, until the top is golden and bubbly. Let rest for 10–15 minutes before slicing and serving.

Notes

  • Garnish with fresh basil or chopped green onions.
  • Serve with a crisp green salad or buttery garlic bread for the perfect meal.
